Review:The Promise Box by:Tricia Goyer

The Promise Box (Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors #2)
About the Book:
Every year, young Amish men descend on the cozy little town of West Kootenai, Montana, arriving in the spring to live there for six months and receive “resident” status for the hunting season in the fall. They arrive as bachelors, but go home with brides!
In The Promise Box, the second book of best-selling author Tricia Goyer’s Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors series, Lydia Wyse, a book editor from Seattle who grew up Amish, returns to the small community of West Kootenai to give comfort to her father after her mother’s death. She is drawn back to the familiar Amish ways after finding her mother’s most precious possession, a Promise Box of prayers and scripture. What her publisher sees, though, is an opportunity for a sensational “tell-all” book about the Amish.
Lydia soon finds herself falling in love with Amish bachelor Gideon Hooley. She wants nothing more than to forget her past and look forward to a future as an Amish bride. But will the pain of her childhood—and her potential betrayal of her community—keep her from committing her whole heart?

My Review:
Going back in time to a past not ever truly forgotten doesn’t seem incredibly easy for Lydia Wyse or easy to accept. Being raised Amish, she never felt she really belonged and when she turned 16 she found out why.  She was adopted. After finding out this information she tried to run from the Amish community as fast as she could to possibly find where she belonged. But her adoptive mother’s death brings her back to the place where she walked away oh so many years prior, from a life that promised more than she could of ever imagined.

Gideon Hooley practically drops into Lydia’s lap. She finds him handsome but assumes he is taken because most Amish men usually are. But is pleasantly surprised to find out he is one of the bachelors that comes to the town of  West Kootenai, Montana year around. And Gideon couldn’t get Lydia off his mind either. But we soon find out why Lydia was here coming back to her roots. But Gideon has another reason, a reason he hasn’t really been very forth coming with.

This story is such an encouraging one that takes you on a spiritual journey. You will learn what the “Promise Box” is and what it meant to Lydia’s mother and how it got her through some of the toughest of times to more times of peaceful resolute. This is the second book in the Seven Brides for Seven Bachelors series. This book to me seems to be a book you can jump into immediately and catch up. It is a great read. I enjoyed it immensely.
